Meet the Big River Grocery Steering Committee
Big River Grocery isn’t open yet—but we do have people doing the work.
Our 28-member Steering Committee is helping move the project from an idea toward a community-owned grocery store.
Committee members bring different experiences, skills, relationships, and perspectives. Together, they're helping with community outreach, events, marketing, partnerships, research, member-owner education, organizational planning, and other behind-the-scenes work.
This isn't a group that simply meets to talk about a grocery store.
They're helping build one.
And because Big River Grocery is being built as a community cooperative, we know we need more people involved as the project grows.
You may be wondering, “How can I get closer to the project?”
You can attend events, become a member-owner, volunteer, share your expertise—or potentially serve on the Steering Committee.
But joining the committee is a commitment. Members are expected to participate, communicate, follow through on responsibilities, and work respectfully with others.
