Want to Be More Involved? What It Means to Join the Steering Committee

Maybe you've been following Big River Grocery from the outside.

You've seen our posts. You've attended an event. You've told your friends about the project.

Now you're thinking, “How can I be more involved?”

One option is serving on the Steering Committee.

Our Steering Committee is a working group helping move Big River Grocery forward. That means being willing to attend meetings, participate in activities, complete assignments, communicate with the team, and help connect the project with the community.

You don't have to know everything about grocery stores or cooperatives.

You do need to be willing to show up, contribute, learn, and work as a team.

Why get involved this early?

Because this is the stage when the foundation is being built.

There isn't a finished store yet. There are still important decisions to make, challenges to solve, and goals to reach.

That's also what makes this stage exciting.

You have an opportunity to help build something that doesn't exist yet.

Not ready for the Steering Committee? That's okay. There will be many ways to participate as Big River Grocery grows.

Next up: What exactly are we working toward?

Read “The Big River Grocery Roadmap” to learn about the milestones ahead—from incorporation and building our leadership structure to reaching our goal of 1,200 member-owners and eventually celebrating a groundbreaking.
